| Shooting Dogs for Fun and Profit | |
| Fantasy/Noir/Horror/Humor Short Story
"Shooting Dogs" is a humor/horror/gangster romp based on my unproduced ten-minute play of the same title. ChiZine/Chiaroscuro was nice enough to publish it in October 2007, and there it remains, archived until whenever. A bit of a postmortem for the story is available here, but it might kill any magic you thought was there before you came down from your marshmallow-high. |

Science Fiction Short Film
An adaptation of Nick Hornby's McSweeney's story of the same name. Directed by Brian McGinn (American Teacher) and co-written by Alex Wilson (and three other screenwriters). Alex also did some voiceover work. Unfortunately the director doesn't have the music rights to the current cut, so he can't make the short film public, but he occasionally provides private links to projects like these in the newsletter. |

Super Hero Satire Cartoon
What if an icon like Marvel's Captain America was to the U.S. government what Mickey Mouse has been to Disney? Here's what a taxpayer-funded Steamboat Willy might've looked like during the Vietnam War in 1971. An "offensive and brilliant" Southparkesque animation by Alex Wilson (writer, director/animator, all voices), 2005. Lots of inside jokes concerning superheroes, and it was created for a Wizard Magazine Direct-to-Video contest, which is why it's padding the "comics" section instead of confining itself to "film." "That was f--kin' tops, Alex!" - Brian K Vaughan "Amazingly funny and well-executed." - Cory Doctorow An IFILM "Clip of the Day," written, animated, and voice-acted by Alex Wilson. Quicktime file requires Quicktime 6 or later, available as a free download here. iPod Video (.m4v) file should be playable on any iPod released after October 2005. Also available on YouTube. Pan-and-Scan version (which further crapifies the animation) available at iFilm.
